WHY would you want to? For God's sake - eat a decent, hi protein, low carb, diet, and forget about this dumb idea. Didn't you have this surgery to END the round of fad and unhealthy diets? Even with 5-6 protein shakes a day, V-8 juice, broth, and diet V-8 Splash leaves you feeling hungry, empty and unsatisfied. Of course, maybe you are a masochist, and like torture . . . I'm 3 weeks into 4 weeks of clear liquids, which includes protein shakes and vitamins supplements. I'm doing it because my doc says I have to. To heal. It's torture. I think that anyone who VOLUNTEERS for this diet has a screw loose or something. But go ahead, be my guest . . . I recommend wonton broth, miso soup, V-8 juice makes you feel full for like, 5 minutes; SF popsicles let you chew for a few minutes, hot herbal tea will warm you . . . Have a BLAST!

You don't have to do it, obviously every surgeon is different. Although most do require atleast a 2 week liquid phase, if not a month or more. Yes, it does help weight loss, if you will notice most people lose a ton of weight the first month or two, and not as much each additional month. But mainly it is for recovery. Your stomach needs alot of time to heal and regular foods can hurt this process. That's also why we have to chew so well all the time, our stomach can't do it for us. If you want to try it- go for it, otherwise stay on your soft food diet, that isn't bad either, but do not progress to regular foods yet! Goodluck to you!
