Question:
Has anyone had a tubal ligation at the same time as open RNY?

I am just wondering if a tubal can be done at the same time as RNY. I am 31, have 2 kids, and I would like to have a tubal, and I think it would be a good idea if they can do it at the same time, while they are in there. Thank you all!! :-)    — Helen M. (posted on March 26, 2003)

A friend of mine had a tubal at the same time as her Open VBG a few months ago, with no complications. I think they went just a tad below her belly button with the scar, to get to her female parts. She has 3 kids and is 35. It seems like a good idea to ask your surgeon if he/she is willing to do it, saves another surgery down the road, killing two birds with one stone as they say. Hugs, Kim S. My surgery is 3/31/03 and i am having lap RNY and tubes tied at the same time different doc comes in and ties my surgeon does not do OBGYN but has another come in with him to do there is not going to be any more cuts than my lap will already have LOL I am as ready to have them tied as I am ready to do WLS THANK GOD FOR BOTH!!! I had the open RNY w/ tubes tied in November 2002. I was a lap candidate until I threw the other procedure in--surgeon said it was too much manipulation in different parts of the abdomen to go lap. So open we went--elongated scar--but only once under anesthesia which was my real concern. I thought 5 children was enough for me at 43!!
