Question:
What to Order at a Lebanese restaurant @ 2 months post op?
What can I get at a Lebanese restaurant that will go down easily? I know the food my husband likes has a lot of bulgar wheat and rice in it like kibbe and stuffed grape leaves and I'm still too scared of rice and pasta to try any of that. Any suggestions? — Rhoni333 (posted on March 26, 2003)

Soup is usually safe.

I like the Humous and pita bread, if bread agrees with you. You might also
want to try the Falafel. It is ground up chick-peas in a ball. Usually
pretty soft and good on protein. And like the train: chew, chew, chew!

They should have chicken kabobs. You can get that and try the hummous.
It's delicious.

Hi Rhonda,
I'm middle-eastern and have been eating my mom's mediteranean food
perfectly fine since surgery. From mid-east restaurants, i would get baba
ghanoush with some chicken kabob. Or tabouli and some meat. Basically,
you can have anything. I wouldn't eat rice or bread, but maybe some meat
and some of the sauce/dip things like baba ghanoush, hummus, yogurt dips.
That and a couple bites of salad and you'll have a great meat. About
falafel, for me it's way too greasy and I get queasy afterwards, so if
really greasy foods bother you, then maybe stick with some lean chicken or
fish and the dips and salads. :) yum, i think i'll go home for some of
mama's cooking tonight :) Bye!!

My husband and I go to middle eastern restaurants all the time. They all
seem to have an appetizer platter with mushy types of salads, like humus
and eggplant dip. Some of them are too spicy for me but with a little pita
bread, they can be OK. Add a few chunks of a chicken Kabob and you'll be
full.
