Question:
8 Days Post Op, Is it normal to feel so stuffed after liquids?
I am just 8 days post op and wondering if it is "normal" to always feel like there is a huge rock in my pouch after even just drinking water or broth? It is hard to tell if I am hungry and is hard to eat/drink due to always feeling stuffed. Sound familiar? I am driving myself nuts worrying over every little symptom/pain that comes up. Thanks, Theresa — TAD B. (posted on March 25, 2003)

Hey Theresa - I, too, had a stuffed feeling early post-op. I had to work
really hard to get all my liquids in. I always felt full. And the
"rock" feeling? Yep, me too. I still feel that way sometimes.
I think I'm normal (whatever that is), so you'll probably get through just
fine. However, if you are truly experiencing pain, you must call your
surgeon immediately. Good luck on your journey. Lisa - LAP RNY,12/3/02,

You are normal. Your pouch is still swollen from surgery, giving you that
"stuffed" feeling all the time.

I felt really stuffed frequently the first month, it helps to eat slow
(when you get to soft or regular foods) and to sip your liquids for now. I
still don't drink normally at 7 wks out. My Dr told me not to worry about
how little you eat or drink for the first few weeks.
