Question:
Does your weight loss slow down when you're on your period??
I was just wondering if this was normal. I will be 2 weeks postop on Tuesday but this week I'm only down a few pounds and wondered if it was due to my period?? — shelbabey (posted on March 23, 2003)

YES!!! Your body is going through some weird and major changes. It is
probably trying to figure out what is going on. You will not lose while
having your period. You are retaining water. Lot's of it. Don't worry.
Once that's over the weight loss will come off. Good luck to you. Open
RNY 11/21/02 down 85 pounds.

Absolutely! I didn't lose a thing leading up to and during my last (and
first post-op) period - even gained 1/2 a lb. (This went on for 5 days)
Then bam - I lost 2 lbs in one day. Incidentally, this coincides with the
pattern I had when I was pre-op. I'd always be upset about gaining wait up
to my period and it would always come off the week after. Best of luck!

Everyone is different. At 4 months I started only losing during my period.
I'd have nothing for 3 weeks then drop 7-10 pounds during my period week.
Good luck and God Bless!

Shelly,
I just had surgery and I had a weightloss stall at 2 weeks also. I
checked with some friends who have had the surgery also and they reported
that they too had stopped losing briefly at 2 weeks. It will start back
again, don't fear.

I am 5 months post-op and I retain so much water during my period, the
scale never moves. And I definitely don't have as much "output"
considering how much water I'm drinking. but on day 7 of my cycle, I'm
peeing every hour and I'm miraculously down a few pounds. It's weird. I
am trying not to worry about this, as it seems to be the way my body works
now.
