Question:
My surgeon no longer does WLS now what??

My friend had her surgery June 02. She has lost #65 is all since that date. She gains weight w/o changing anything. I truly think she will need a revision but here's the problem. Our surgeon quit doing these surgeries and is a trauma surgeon now. When she calls a new doc asking about a revision she is told since your doc is still in practice we won't touch you!! Now what??? HELP!!! She didn't go through this surgery to lose 65# is all!!! She feels so bad... NOTHING makes her sick!!! She can eat whatever she wants too... she was eating a WHOLE grilled cheese sandwich in the first 6 weeks.. the outside crusts she cut off but she could eat the rest!!! HELP PLEASE!!!!    — Pam O. Lots of surgeons do revisions.You may need to shop around a bit. What procedure did she originally have?

Perhaps if you called your original surgeon he would refer you to someone who could help you. Worth a try. Nina in Maine

I was also a patient of Dr. Strauther. Did you try calling Dr. Jeff Smith in Alma that Dr. Strauther was associated with. He has been doing my follow-up and he might be able to help you. Judy Shock

I don't know what state you are in but Dr. Jamshid Nazarian in Beverly hills does revisions and has an excellent reputation... 2000 surgeries and has many revision patients. He is under the surgeon's listing on obesity help. I know they have several patients who come from out of state. -Open RNY 3/12/03 -17lbs

We live in Michigan. She has called numerous doctor offices including BTC and NOBODY will help because Dr. Strauthers is still in business. He no longer does the WLS.. he's a trauma surgeon but he is still practing. I feel all of Strauther's patients were left HIGH & DRY!!! If you are one of Stauthers patients and you are doing good you have it made BUT if you run into anyproblems... WATCH OUT and GOOD LUCK!!!
