Question:

My surgery is in less than a week and I am trying to get prepared, but I need a good place to purchase vitamins. Any suggestions would be appreciated!! Thank you in advance. — Debbie M. (posted on March 14, 2003)

I am three months post-op from 'Micropouch' Surgery. I take TWO (2)
Centrum Chewable Vitamins every day. You can get them at Walmart, etc.
Good luck with your surgery!

There is a liquid vitamin at Smoothie King. I'm not certain of the name
but it is very good. It tastes like fruit punch.

I found some chewable calcium citrate and sublingual biotin lozenges at
Vitacost.com along with selenium without yeast(taste much better). Chewable
vitamin E at GNC stores or gnc.com.

My husband and I buy all our vitamins and proteins from WLS Success. They
are local for us, but you can order all their products online as well:

I get mine at the health food store. Nature's Plus Pineapple flavor
Adult's chewable multi-vit. They taste good too, not yucky like the
centrum and other brands. Nature's Plus also makes a vanilla flavored
calcium chewable, I took that at first, but now I take the cal/mag citrate
capsule. With the vit. I get 90 tabs for around $18.00 and the cal/mag I
get 90 caps for around $8.00. I don't remember what the chewable calcium
costs. Good luck.

I found liquid calcium citrate at Vitaminworld.com and in their stores.

I use the LifeTime Liquid Calcium Magnesium Citrate from
www.vitaminworld.com. It is pre-acidified, milk and phosphorus free, and
has 400IU of Vit D, 600 mg calcium (from citrate elemental), and 300 mg
magnesium (from citrate elemental). It does have 6 calories and 1.3 grams
carb (sugar (fructose) 1.25g).
It comes in varied flavors (I like lemon custard) and must be refrigerated
after opening, but it tastes better cold anyway. It goes down easily (for
me) and having the calcium as liquid and the iron in a pill helps me
remember to take them at different times.
Another thing, once you have a $25 net purchase at Vitamin World you get
30% off everything the first Monday and Tuesday of each month. This way I
end up paying $7.10 for sixteen days worth (two doses a day). I have no
connection with Vitamin World; just like finding the cheapest prices
available.
As for multiple vitamins, my PCP prescribes a prenatal vitamin, Nutrinate.
As I have prescription insurance I end up paying less than $2.00 per
month.
I hope this helps.
