Question:
Safe endoscopy and sleep apnea..what if you don't yet know if you have sleep apnea?
If you haven't had the sleep study yet, but they're putting you out for an endoscopy, how safe is the procedure? I have been under general anesthesia before with no problems, but that was at least 2 years ago. I'm a little concerned. — Amy A. (posted on March 12, 2003)

You won't be given general anasthesia for an endoscopy. You'll be given
something to relax you so they can get the scope in and probably something
that will actually make you forget the whole thing. The sleep apnea
shouldn't pose any problem, if you have it.

Amy, I just found out that I have Sleep Apena and need a c-pap machine. I
had the same test done prior to finding out and had no problems. I'm sure
you will be fine. Good luck!!
