Question:
Question for Duodenal POST OPS please...
What's a daily food intake like for you? I don't know if I am eating enough, not enough, too much fat, etc. Please tell me your post-op food intakes. Is fat a DS'ers friend? Do I count carbs, fats? HELP... — Cinna G. (posted on March 4, 2003)

There is a Yahoo support group for DS people. I'm not sure of the name but
I'm sure if you type in weight loss surgery it will list all of the groups.
You will likely find more people there. This is all I can help because I
had an RNY.

Cinna,
I'm nearly 2 yrs post op and I have to be very careful what I eat and how
much. I could easily overeat. I eat anything I want and at times that can
get me in trouble. I can usually eat a normal size portion of whatever.
Approx. 8 oz. I try not to eat until I'm full but satisfied and that's not
always an easy thing to do. I can now throw food away. I don't think you
can put a blanket coverage on how much you should be eating vs what I may
be eating. Again, eat until you're satisfied. Are you getting all your
vitamins and fluids in? Very important. We don't absorb fat but we do
absorb sugar. I try to eat lots of protein but there are days when I like
more fruit/veggies and less protein but by the next day that usually
changes. Hope this helps even a little bit.
