Question:
Spreadin' the news!!
I just got my date!!! I'm scheduled for wls on April 11th!!! I wanted to spread the good news all around, but also wanted to ask if anyone had any advice for me. Anything at all, I'm all ears, lol. I want to add that I'm starting to "freak out" a bit now that I know it's a definite thing, how can I calm my nerves?? Thanks everybody!!! — Cat S. (posted on February 28, 2003)

hello! :) and congrats on your upcoming surgery!!! the count down begins to
the new you, arent you excited!!!!! :)its normal to be nervous and freak,
this is a new thing, a major decision that your making. to get prepared, i
wouldnt buy too much food as you wont be eating alot, but somethngs youll
probably need would be, broths, sf popcicles,sf jellos, crystal lite or
bottled waters. flinstones chewables, lotion, chap stick, maybe some
magazines for the hospital or some good tunes to bring along. also maybe
bring a nice comfy loose fitting outfit to go home in as you wont want
anything too clingy. just live it up and have a great time, make some good
memories pre op as youll soon be closing one chapter of your life and the
new one begins! its quite a journey! best of luck to you! :)

I would say the best thing I did was start eating in this order:
protein, veggies, fruits, then starchy carbs (breads or pastas). Also, try to
start really chewing your food up and eating slowly so that it will be
second nature after your surgery. Biggest thing I can say is begin your
exercise routine so that you will already be in the habit. Walking is my #1
choice. I am very happy for you about getting a date, I remember I cried
when I got my approval! You will do great, keep coming to this website for
advice and ideas. Oh, when in the hospital, make sure you bring lip balm,
for some reason my lips were very chapped when I woke up. Feel free to look
at my web-page!

Congratulations, Cat! Just follow your doctor's instructions and REALLY
listen to your body.
Good luck to you and don't get too uptight before surgery date. This
really works! ;)
