Dr. Price @ Mount Carmel Hospital, Columbus, Ohio....
My cousin is looking into surgery with Dr. Price. Anyone have any input on the surgeon or the hospital. Please advise. Thank you! — Kristee (posted on February 23, 2003)

I am seeing Dr. Custer he is with Dr. Price. I'm very happy with my choice.
I have heard nothing but great things about both of them. I'm still pre-op.
Feel free to email me with any questions

I am a patient of Dr. Price, I will have my surgery on April 3. My
consultation with him was very non-stressed. He provides a very comfortable
atmosphere. He is easy to talk to and has done hundreds of these surgeries.
I have heard absolutely wonderful things about him and that he is one of
the best! I highly recommend him to anyone considering this surgery! As
long as you have done your homework with all your documentation of past
diet and weight history you will do fine! The hospital, Mt. Carmel is very
wonderful also. The staff if great and all the rooms are private rooms. I
have met a few different staff members of Mt. Carmel through support group
meetings and patient education classes and feel very comfortable that when
I have my surgery between the staff and Dr. Price himself that I am in very
good hands. Feel free to email me about anything else on Dr. Price and good
luck!

I had dr custer but when my surgery was over he went on vacation so dr
price was my caretaker while in the hospital along with the residents. He
is a very nice man, he assisted dr custer with my lap/rny. He visited me
twice while i was in the hospital, the last time i was walking in the hall
and asked me if i was ready to go home, if i was he would write me out if i
wasnt he would let me stay another day. I was very tempted to say keep me
one more day cause I could just focus on me and not me and my three kids
and husband funny huh. Anyway, He seemed really kind to me and if i didnt
have dr custer then i would definately want him as my doctor. Dr price was
booked up alot compaired to dr cuter so i was inpatient and went with dr
custer. Anyway, they are both great and professional. The only complaint
i have about mount carmel is one nurse i had out of like 12 nurses, she
wouldnt get me pain meds from my doctor my first day out of surgery (not
the surgery day but the day after). She kept telling me i wasnt pushing my
morphine pump enough and i was pumping it it was kinked, so another nurse
came in and figured it out for me while i was crying in so much pain cause
the dumb nurse just left me in pain and went to lunch. I didnt see her
again. I only found out my pump was kinked by the nurse i had the next day.
I should of made a complaint about her to the hospital but i didnt cause i
had so many more great doctors and nurses i chose to ignore her cause i'm
too much of a optomist, i guess, i think well one out of 12 isnt that bad
instead of saying this woman needs talked to about her actions. I can only
say she is blonde with long hair. She was the only one who didnt tell me
her name or anything. All, and, the nutritionist is another matter, i would
search for one that is knowledgable in what will be going on with you. You
will be on liquids for 6 weeks and have to find a protien drink, well, she
recommends carnation instant breakfast but it only has 5 grams of protien
in a 1c serving so you would need to drink alot of them a day and you can
only drink 2-3 oz at a time and then go to 4-6 oz at a time. I have had a
problem getting my protien in since all shakes or anything make me nauseous
just thinking about them. good luck. I do recommend dr price and dr custer
cause they wont cut you open unless its necessary, they try to do lap but
if your not a good canidate then they wont try but they arent like alot of
doctors in the col area that just cut everyone open cause its cheaper for
them to do so. Good luck.
