Question:
Has anyone heard of abdominal muscles not healing after open RNY?

My brother had open RNY about 13 months ago and has a huge lump that is 2" wide and runs the entire length of the scar. His doctor said that it is not a hernia, and that it is from where he was cut and the muscles did not heal back together. He was also told that it could only be fixed by opening him back up and placing a 'mesh' thing over the muscles to keep them in place. There has to be another treatment.Does anyone know? He has lost over 150# but has a huge buldge above his belly button. He can't even weigh a tight shirt. Will a tummy tuck help this? I feel so bad for him as he has worked so hard. I have this same situation, but I am pre-op... I am hoping the weight loss I will have will bring the two halves together... I was told they separated as a result of my gaining weight, like sometimes happens when women get big with pregnancy.
