Question:
At what weight will I be able to wear a size 10?

Anyone at 5"2' and about 160 pounds or more wanting to share where you are as far as your sizes are concerned right about now? I'm not sure exatcly where I am or where I am supposed to be, but a Liz Claiborne dress I was wearing yesterday was a size 14!!! I can't believe it! I'm just thinking some designer styles are "cut" different than regular clothes...Then I tried to go and outright buy a size 14, and it was too small yet (*drats*). I'm visualizing my new image. What do you say? Thanks for answering! ~~Luv, Hugs, & Prayers~~    — yourdivaness (posted on February 12, 2003)

Well, I'm 5'6" and 170lbs and in a 10 and some 8's. It does depend on your shape, how your built and all clothes are cut different. In dresses, I have to get a 12 or even a 14 so it just depends. My best friend is 5'4" and weighs about 145lbs and we are in the same sizes but built totally different. Try not to focus on the numbers cause you will drive yourself crazy.

I'm between 5'2" and 5'3" and about 180. I can wear size 14 at Old Navy and Gap, and not tightly either, they fit just right. I've been doing weight lifting for almost a year now, and it makes a difference. The muscle you build weighs more than the same mass of fat. I know from trying on old clothes that didn't fit me at 180 (many yrs pre-op!!) that *do* fit now. So I think what size you wear is not only your height and weight, but also has to do with your muscle mass. Good luck!

I am 5'3" and weigh 146. I wear clothes from size 6-10! It depends a lot on the designer. I mostly fit in 8s. As far as clothes from years ago, it depends on how far back you go. I found a cache of my clothes from the 70s and early 80s in my Moms house. They definitely sized clothes a lot smaller years ago. 14s and even 16s were snug! Ignore the numbers on the tags. Try on everything and buy what fits. At our height, try to go for the petite clothes. The waists and length are proportioned to fit us better.

I'm 5'2" and at 169 lbs. For the most part I am wearing a size 14, but just the other day I was finally able to comfortably fit into a size 12 Ralph Lauren jeans. I was PSYCHED! Not only did they fit perfectly, but they looked great too! Everyone is shaped differently and all clothes are made differently so it's kinda hard to say what weight a size 10 will be.

I would say you could fit on some size 10 things now. I am about 146lbs. and 5'2" and wear a size 8 in most clothes ( i shop at GAP, Banana Republic, etc.) BUT, if I wear jeans that are junior sizes, like MUDD and LEI, etc. I am an 11. So it all depends. SO, shop around and you can find different sizes. I wish they were all the same, it's so confusing!

I am about 5'2" and I was at 140 pounds, I wore sizes ranging from 8 to 12. I am now at 114 and I wear a straight size 3. It's funny this whole time that I have been losing weight, I have ranged in sizes depending on designer and cut, and now at this weight, I wear the same size in everything. It does make shopping a little easier.

Just my 2 cents, don't get discouraged if you are at the weight other people say they are and you can't get into the same size they can. I am 5'4" and I was at 200 pounds about 8 years ago and wore a 14-16 depending on the cut. I am at 220 now and can't get out of a 20. Everything kinda 'shifted' when I gained weight (before surgery!) and now I guess I don't even have the same body shape.

It does depend on your shape-are you an apple or a pear? I'm 5'3 and 154, and can wear a size 10 dress and top, yet wear a 12 on bottom. So, it kinda sounds like from the other posters that at 5'2 they are around 145 and a size 10..but keep in mind that your shape will have something to do with it.
