Question:
Will queasiness in stomach after eating ever stop?
I'm two months out and my stomach gets that queasy, nauseous feeling when I eat. I'm eating things like scrambled eggs, pb&j sandwiches, tuna, refried beans just as my doctor suggests, but my stomach still feels yucky when I eat. The first drink of water in the morning also feels this way. Please tell me if this will eventually go away. I'm hoping it will. — Nancy H. (posted on February 12, 2003)

Hi Nancy,
I am 5 months post~op and 100 lbs down. The queesiness does get better as
time goes on. Try Flavored waters like Fruit2O. That helped alot. I
haven't yet been able to eat sandwiches, although I did have some chicken
on Pita and that was real good. Peanut butter I can't seem to tolerate yet
it's to heavy. My intake is about 8oz now at a meal but some days are
better then others. Otherwise I feel great and don't miss a thing. I look
at the queeziness in my stomach as a God sent, as if it's a definite sign
my surgery is still working!

Hi there! I am 3 months post-op and experienced the same thing. Something
that I found worked was to suck on hard candy after a meal. The type all
depends on what you can tolarate. I didn't have any problem with 1-2 jolly
rancher candies, but there are some good sugar free ones too! ANd trust me,
it will go away. I can't pinpoint the day it did, but it is gone now. Keep
up the good work!

Maybe it's your food choices that are making you sick to your pouch? I'm 8
1/2 mos. out Lap. RNY -130 lbs. and the only thing you listed that I can
eat without problem is the refried beans! I have a picky pouch, so I have
to be careful what I put in it, are there things you can eat that don't
make you feel yucky? If so, eat those things for a while and then after a
time out, try your PB&J, or eggs, or tuna and you may find that they
don't bother you anymore (it's funny but your tummy will change it's mind
from day to day as to what it likes and dislikes) GOOD LUCK!!! IT ALL DOES
GET BETTER WITH TIME ;-)

I am 15 months out. It takes a while for everything to start to feel right
going down. I still wouldn't be able to eat a pb sandwich now! I have so
much trouble with bread and pasta. But, mostly, by about nine months
everything tastes pretty normal and sits better in your pouch.

How much volume are you eating? For example, if you started out with a 1
oz pouch, you'd want your meals to be about 2 oz. If you're eating
substantially more, it can make you feel yucky for awhile after. Even if
you don't "lose it", if you eat it slowly, it can just make you
miserable.
