Question:
Anyone start around 5'5,325lbs.?
Hi, i'm 4weeks post-op and have lost 35lbs. It's funny because the scariest part of all of this to me is that I have never been thin and I can't imagine myself that way! So I was wondering if anyone could tell me where they are now (a few months or so later). It would help me alot, thanx:) — Melissa M. (posted on February 11, 2003)

Melissa, I am 5'4" and weighed 340 lbs. the day I had surgery. I am 4
months post-op and have lost 86 lbs. I'm like you, I can't imagine being
thin, either! We'll get there, though!

I am 5'6" and started at 297lbs and a size 26. I'm now 15 months post
op and down to 170lbs and a size 10. I know you can't imagine yourself
thin, but I can't imagine myself the way I was now! Believe me, you will
get used to the idea! Nothing feels as good as thin does! Take a look at my
pics on my profile if you want.

Hey there. I am 5'5 and started off at 382 lbs. I am almost 6 months post
op and down 120 lbs. Its hard to imagine myself thin too....so you aren't
alone! Sometimes I do have to take double takes when looking at myself in
the mirror to make sure me is really ME. lol

First, Congrats on your loss! I started this journey at 5'4 (or so I
thought) and 346. I am now 15 mos out and weigh in at 168 size 10-oh and I
also "'grew" an inch-doctor says I just stand taller because I am
not weighed down. I have pics on my profile (sorry not updated but when I
was 177) if that helps! Best wishes!

I started at 340, 5'5", and at 13 months out I am down to 190 and a
size 14/16. I am so thrilled and I feel great!! I feel thin, too! I
would like to lose 20 more pounds, but if I don't I am happy here!

Melissa, I'm 5'6 and started my journey at 325. I am 4.5 months out and am
246 down 79 lbs. since my consultation in July (2 months before surgery)
and 63 since surgery in September. In July I was wearing a 28, today I am
in a loose 18 and a 17 would be perfect. I have a link to pics posted on my
profile if you'd like to see my progress. :-) Congrats on your weight loss!
I've never been thin either and am already in shock at wearing an 18...what
the heck will happen when I get under 200 lbs?! LOL

Hi Melissa:
I am 9.5 months out and I started at 326 and 5'5". I have lost 110
and went from a size 26 to a size 14. I am 25 pounds away from my doctors
goal for me. I still have a hard time with the whole body imagine thing.
I get lots of compliments and I can't imagaine why. Some times I can't see
the difference in me, some times I can although I know just from being a
smaller size. Even when I buy a size 14 pants I don't see how they'll fit
until I try them on. You not alone in that, alot of us deal with that
issue. Good Luck.

Hi Melissa, I am 10 months post op. I am 5'6" and started at
335...currently I am down to 142 pounds...putting me at 193. I plan get to
150. I understand what you mean about being thin. I still see myself as
335. Shopping is an odd experience now. It's been hard trying make myself
go to the misses section. I think it will be awhile before I really see my
true self. Good Luck!

Melissa, I am 5'5" and I actually weighed 388lbs the day before
surgery. I am now 7 months post-op and I have lost over 130lbs. I know what
you mean about body image. I still have a hard time seeing what others see.
I know I started bigger than you, I just wanted to let you know I feel the
same way. Congratulations on your loss so far!
