Question:
Where can I find stevia in Boston

I already checked the library, but see no reference to where one can purchase stevia. Any suggestions for the Boston area?    — rebalspirit (posted on February 3, 2003)

Stevia is a popular all natural no sugar sweetner that is very popular in Europe. It is very rarely found in the US. I would check with someone at a very good health food store. Not GNC but one of those stores that carrries a lot of organic and all natural foods.

I could be wrong, but I think Stevia is called Splenda here in the US.

Stevia is not the same as Splenda. I know I buy Splenda in the grocery store, I believe I saw Stevia there as well. I believe a friend of mine bought it at the healthfood store. I don't live in Boston but the grocery store I shop at is Safeway. If you have a Safeway there and they don't have it on the shelf I would think they could special order it for you. Even if you don't have Safeway, perhaps your local grocery could still order it. It's worth checking into. I have not tried Stevia myself but my friend who has said she prefered the taste of Splenda over Stevia. Anyway, I hope that helps.

I have compared costs at many health food places online... just type in Stevia Liquid or Stevia Granules and lots of stuff comes up. Also-try your local health food store. The stuff rocks.

I don't know if you have any Wild Oats Markets there, but they carry it. Also, Alfalfa's, Henry's, or Chamberlin's should all carry stevia (any larger natural foods stores). I just tried it for the first time since my surgery, and it's not too bad!

Try Bread & Circus in Boston, Brighton, or Cambridge. I'm a Bostonian living in San Francisco now, but I remember Bread & Circus (part of Whole Foods Co.) might be a good place to look for that. Call first and save yourself a trip. Hugs, Joy

Stevia can sometimes be found at GNC, but I buy mine from a lady on EBay.
