Question:
Any Drs in Houston that takes Aetna HMO for Lap Band?

My daughter is 19 and is looking into having this surgery. If not any Drs that will do WLS lap and that will take Aetna. She of course does not want any pain.. Silly girl. I told her the pain is worth it. Thanks for any and all suggestions..    — jmasks (posted on February 2, 2003)

Yes, Aetna is completely behind the times. Why cover an effective $15,000 surgery when they can cover a $40,000 surgery with a huge rate of complications that they will have to pay even more for?!?!? Makes no sense. I have Aetna and I have one piece of advice. Especially since you are in or near Houston. Go to Mexico or Europe for the surgery. $6500 got me my lap band. The hospital and doc were great and I would do it again in a heartbeat! Email me by clicking on my profile if you want more info.
