Question:
Help, I NEED WATER

How can I quench my 150oz pre-op thirst?????? I'm gonna go nuts. — CD C. (posted on January 26, 2003)

You can't gulp or guzzle water, but you can sip, sip, sip all day long. Keep a bottle of water handy, keep several cold in the fridge. You'll be surprised how much water you can sip during a day. And at this point in your recovery, nothing is better for you. Best of luck!

get yourself an ice shaver and munch on those. IT really helped me post op.

Not everyone has problems drinking fluids immediately post-op. I was able to drink more than the usual patient even from the first. I'm 2 weeks out, and drink between 80 -100 ounces daily. If I wanted to, I could drink more. I may be unusual, but I can't be the only person like this-- perhaps you will be too.
If you keep a sports bottle of water with you at all time, just sip constantly, and you may be able to get all the fluid you want. If drinking is hard, though, and you can't drink much at one time, you may find you want less fluid than you did pre-op.
Good luck! Beth open-rny 1/15/03, -13 lbs.
