Question:
How much is too much excercise?

Hi there, Amos family! I tried to get into the database and it kept coming up that no topic found, so it suggested to ask the question. I'm sure it's just a glitch. Anyhow...I have the go-ahead to do anytype of exercise I want. I was wondering about ab crunches...Do any of you around 4 months, who have had an open RNY, do ab crunches? Also how many do you do in a day? 100, 500, 1000? I'm going to start slow, but want to get an idea of how high I can get up to in repetitions. Thank you all you beautiful humans! I do about 75 a day after 1 year. I'm going to get a Belt lipectomy and will have to stop for 6 weeks. The tighter that you make your abs the eaiser this operation is . Good Lux

wow- your question as to how many ab crunches you do in a day and the choices to choose from-100, 500, 1000, lead me to believe that you plan to really do alot of exercise! That is quite alot. I do about 25 of them- 2 or 3 sets of 25 each- 4 times a week and started out at about 3 months post op with just 10-15 and worked my way up. Go for it, girl!

I am at 4 months post-op and I just started doing an ab workout. I have been lifting weights and doing some form of aerobic activity (treadmill or an aerboic workout) since I ws released to begin to do so at 6 weeks. I don't count how many crunches I'm doing, I've been following Richard Simmons' Disco Sweat exercise video and it has a good ab workout at the end. Let me tell you, I forgot I had those muscles! LOL Good luck to you! Also, congrats on your weight loss!

I do the "Power 90" Ab routine 4 days a week. There are 10 different positions and there are 10 reps for each. This equates to 100 total reps. I've done a few other Ab programs as well and this seems to be pretty average, as far as the amount. I also go to Curves 5 days a week and I do some additional ab work there as well. I don't think that their Ab-specific machine is that great, but I do crunches when I do the shoulder pull and it makes a big difference! They also have a piece of equipment in the stretch room that you pull yourself up, hold on, pull your legs up and do crunches. I always do 50 here as well. Not too bad considering that when I started there in July I couldn't even do one!!! :-) I didn't start working out until I was 3 months out and I often wished that I started sooner, but I just wasn't ready yet. Now, I can't get enough of it! Isn't WLS awesome! I've never felt healtier and happier in my life! 9 months post-op today and down 124 pounds and 85 inches!!
