Question:
Substitutions for Carbs.. Lettuce!
I have stopped eating bread or crackers with anything, instead I have replace them with lettuce, for example if I want a tuna fish sandwich I roll the tuna fish salad with lettuce instead, If I want taco I make meat with cheese, and sour cream and roll it in lettuce instead of taco and so on,.My peanut butter and cracker are now peanut butter and lettuce. I'm trying to stop eating carb. What do you think??? Will this work... Help_ — Rebe W. (posted on January 19, 2003)

Hi...I think this is a fabulous idea...thanks for passing it along! The
only thing i can think of to add is maybe try stuffing celery with whatever
sandwich filling you've made.

You're brilliant! I'm going to try that! I've been munching on crackers
all day, and to make it worse, I've been putting a big pat of real butter
on them! Can you believe it!?!?!? I'm buying lettuce tomorrow morning and
ditching the evil carbs!

I think it is a great idea infact it what i do lol. I would ask this
though. What kind of lettuce are you using? Iceberg lettuce has like no
nutritional value what so ever. You are far far better off using a leaf
lettuce it has more vits in it ....also its alot easier to roll lol.

I have also been doing this for a while with the leafy lettuce. It is
delicious. I think the peanut butter would go good with the celery that
Linda mentioned.

Just an FYI on the "In-n-Out" info below... it's called
"Protein Style" and they just replace the bun with lettuce. :-)

I would be interested in knowing more about this. I know a favorite snack
used to be peanut butter on celery because celery has negative calories
(burns more calories in chewing than it has)Anybody got a web site on this.

Well I found out if you put in "Protein Style" on Yahoo, you get
a wealth of information. This is a Vietnamese style of using lettuce leaves
instead of bread. I think it sounds like a great idea, especially if you
get a hardier lettuce
