Question:
5'2
Hi all. First I would like to say how delighted I am. I was approved by ins. today. Now I'm getting nervous. Dying on the table issues, etc. Anyway, just wondering how other postops with the same ht. and wt. have done with their WLS. I know it differs from person to person but I'm curious. By the way, my "fat" is evenly distributed over my entire body from calves to upper arms. I'm sure that makes a difference on how you lose also. I measured my thighs yesterday. I almost died, 31" around. — lindadougherty (posted on January 14, 2003)

and weigh 129 and wearing a baggy size 4! who would of thought i would ever
feel this great! i would do this surgery again and again to feel this good!
yes, every one fears dying it is part of being human. remember you can dy
from being obese and the complications and stresses it brings and gives our
body daily. Keep a positive attitude and you will do great.

I'm 5'2 & 1/2 with a starting weight of 319 and a BMI of 58.3 and
current BMI of 29.4. If I could have lost another half pound it would have
been half my body weight but atlas I could only get down to 160! I'm 20
months post op and my weight ranges from 161.5 to 168 on any given day. I'm
still in the HIGH OVERWEIGHT range and give up ever getting to a Normal BMI
let alone to the mid range in Normal as I had hoped. I see all these people
who get there (and some underweight) and I wonder why I can't. I am getting
very depressed and I already have a depression problem anyway. But... at
least I look better than I did in the Spring of 2001. But I'm having many
problems from the WLS... and seems I've traded one set of problems pre op
for a whole new set post op. Then to top it off... I can't even get in a
Normal range BMI. But you probally will... seems most people do. ;)

I'm 5'2". I had my surgery 8 months ago (May 14,2002). I had the
open/distal procedure. I had 190cm of intestine bypassed. My starting
weight was 296lbs. I now weigh 169lbs!!! I have lost 127lbs to date. I
did carry alot of my weight around the middle.
I feel the weight has come off pretty quick for me. Everyone is different
as to how they lose the weight. I have never thrown up. I have only
dumped once. I can tolerate all meats. If I have bread its only a bite or
two at the most. I eat 3 - 4 times a day. My labs are perfect. I take
the following daily as per my doctor: vitamins, calcium, and pepsid. I
feel blessed to have had this surgery. I would do it again "In a
Heartbeat"! Best Wishes to you.

I'm 5'3" and started out at 337 1/2 lbs. I had open RNY on
3/6/02--I've lost 134 lbs. The last 2 months have been extrememly slow on
the weight loss, only 12 lbs. I look and feel so much better. I want to
lose another 40 lbs. and then have an abdominoplasty, brachioplasty, breast
lift and thighplasty. I also am 48 years old and have been overweight for
20 years. I was divorced 20 years ago this montha and gained 100 lbs. in
the first year and then more slowly put on close to another 100 lbs. If
you are young you have a better chance of your skin having more elasticy.
Good luck.

I started out 250lbs at 5'2". 7 1/2 months later I am about
150-155lbs. I am about 15-20 pounds from my goal, but I am still happy
with how I look. I fit into a 8/10 pants and M/L shirt. I was also a 38H
bra, now am 36DD. My fat was evenly distributed like yours, and it has
been evenly lost as well, which I am happy about! I am 22 and was obese
for about 5 years. Unfortunately I definately need a boob lift. I still
have a fat tummy, but I don't think it's enough for a tummy tuck, I may be
fine once I get to my goal weight. I don't have lose skin anywhere else,
though, fortunately! You will soon be on the "other side" soon,
and it feels wonderful! Congrats!!

Hi,
I am 5'2" My highest weight was 306, 285 the day of surgery. My
surgery was Sept 20, 2001. I am 107 now, maintaining for the last 3-4
months. I have had a TT, Breast Lift, Arms and Thighs done. I may need a
few nips and tucks mostly underarms and knees but want to wait about 6
months and see how much I can accomplish with exercise and time. I also
might want to do something about the excess skin under my chin. I wear
size 0/2/4 XS/S depending on the designer. My waist has gone from 46"
to 23", Hips from 57" to 32" and thighs from 30" to
17". I couldn't be happier. Best of Luck to you.

I always love these questions because I'm always curious to see how others
are doing that started with the same stats as me...so thanks for posting
this question! I was 289 the day of surgery and I am now 8.5 months out
and I've been fluctuating between 171-174 for the past couple of weeks.
I've started a new excercise routine and I am still struggling with getting
enough calories each day so I've been plateauing for a few weeks now. I
would like to lose 45 more pounds. I work out 6 days a week and my skin is
holding up pretty well, with the exception of my arms (I look like I could
fly with these things!). Also, if you look at my profile, there's a link
to my WLS picture journal. You may get a better idea from seeing the
transformation rather than just hearing about the numbers. Best of luck to
you!!!
