Question:
I need a wls-friendly primary care doctor. I had surgery 15 months ago,
and whenever I need to see my pcp he sort of ignores my wls history, and I constantly have to remind him what the procedure was, how it affects my meds, etc. So, anyone in the Wyandotte/Trenton/Soughtate, Michigan area who knows one? — scottiemaam O. (posted on January 14, 2003)

Anne,
I don't have an answer for you but good luck I'm 8 almost 8 months post op
and haven't found one I'm in Las Vegas Nevada, I'm continunaly educating my
doctor on what tests need to be ordered and what medications I can
take.....
I have yet to find one that's up on the WLS side of it..
It's frustrating to have to educate a person with a PHD, and someone you're
paying just to write you a slip for it....
Good Luck and God Bless.

What I found that helpful for me, was to find out who your Bariatric
Surgeon recommended. Is that a concept, or what?
I did not originally have a PCP, and when I went to the Bariatric surgeons
seminar (say that 3 time real fast!), I decided to ask him who he usually
gets referral from. That was a blessing! I was referred right away!
