Question:
2months post-op, blood clots
It has been said that someone,Pink, died of blood clots at 2 months post-op. How is it that her wls was to blame? This is so confusing. — TheresaC (posted on January 14, 2003)

The wls was to blame because that was the last surgery she had. You stand
this risk with any surgery, not just wls. A friend of mine's father
recently underwent a triple bypass, and guess what, that night they had him
out of bed walking so that he didn't develop a blood clot. You are never
out of the woods, so to speak, at how long after surgery it can occur
either. My surgeon says people walk around all the time unaware they have a
clot, it just isn't fatal or even known they have it. So, wls in itself is
not directly to blame for a blood clot, just the surgery part of it. Same
things to worry about anytime you are anesthetized.

I thought that a death could only be blamed on the surgery if it was within
30 days of the surgery...does anyone else know differently? And who is
this Pink person? Was he/she a member here? So sad.
