Question:
WLS referral from HMO doc in Lawrence of Topeka Kansas for Cigna?

Hello Amos Family! I am in need of a PCP in Lawrence or Topeka Kansas that takes Cigna insurance, and believes in WLS. My PCP will not give me a referral, he says that he does not believe in the surgery. I can change my PCP, but my appointment is next week, the 21st of January. Can anyone help? Also, does anyone know of a therapist that will do an evaluation for WLS? All help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks so much!!    — Kylie E. (posted on January 12, 2003)

I don't know who is doing your WLS, but I just have to suggest that you use Liv-Lite in Junction City. They are absolutely the very best!!. Dr. Bollman and Dr. Stevens are the surgeons and are wonderful. They could probably suggest a PCP. Dr. Thomas Coleman in Manhattan would be great for the psych exam. He is the facilitator for the monthly support group meetings in Junction City. If you have any questions let me know.

Don't know Topeka or Lawrence but Dr. Maria Palmeri in KCK and Overland Park will refer. I have Humana so I don't know about Cigna - I don't know much do I? You also might consider Dr. Sifers as your surgeon - he's at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. He does the BPD which has a lot going for it.
