Question:
How can I get the glue out of my hair from the sleep study electrodes??

I am African American with dreadlocks. I need to know how to get the goop out of my hair from the sleep apnea test. Help please.    — Ann B. (posted on January 7, 2003)

The nurse told me to run hot water over the glue - as hot as I could stand. It immediately dissolved and washed away.

I had this done twice. My hair is to the calf of my legs and just washing it a couple of times took this out. Use lots of soap and water and it will work. This did it for me.

My sleep study tech took most of it out with nail polish remover (at 5:00am, the fumes almost killed me!). I washed the rest out myself in a good shampooing. If your sleep study person didn't help you by getting most of it out for you, shame on them! (I would complain to the facility where you had the sleep study done). Just my humble opinion. Hugs, Joy

There is a product available in most large grocery stores called Goo-Gone. It is made with orange oil, and smells like citrus. It works great for removing sticky residue. tape marks, and gummy stuff from surfaces, and took gum and paint from my children's hair many times.Give it a try! Wash your hair thoroughly with shamppoo and conditioner afterwards, and you should be fine! Jo

I used nail polish remover (as recommended by my sleep study tech).
