Question:
Am I slow loser?
Hi Guys. I'm trying to decide if I am a slow loser. I thought I was losing pretty fast, Than my PCP told me I wasnt where he thought I would be. Now I think I am losing slowly and will never back it to goal. I will be 4 months out on the 18th and have lost 80 pounds. I want to lose 175 total, so I have 70 left until goal. Well, that musst make me a slow loser too cause I have lost about 91 lbs in
the past 5 months. I really don't see why your doctor says that.
Actually, I feel like I am progressing at a pretty good rate and I think
you are too. Hang it there.

Whaaaaaaat!? 80 lbs in 4 months is "slow"?! That's absurd.
Since when did you ever lose an average of 20 lbs a month?! I'm six months
out and have lost 72 (also considered slow, I'm told), but I'm glad of it.
Every other months my clothes become too big to wear... my skin is isn't
sagging too much. "Slow" is fine -- PERMANENT is what I'm most
concerned with. YOU'RE DOING GREAT, HONEY! Don't believe otherwise... and
YOU WILL REACH YOUR GOAL, ON YOUR TERMS!!

You are doing great. I lost 66 pounds in 10 weeks and then had lost 100 at
5 months. But, I was 200 pounds overweight. I didn't look at your profile
so I don't know your age but there are so many things that affect the rate
of loss. I wss devastated when my surgeon told me that he wanted me to
stop at 200 pounds - not 200 pounds lost but when I weighed 200. In my
mind, I wanted to get to 140 - high normal for my weight. He finally
convinced me that I was being unrealistic. I am 56 and have been morbidly
obese for many years. I have a tremendous amount of excess skin and flab
that no amount of weight loss or exercise will remove. I am waiting for
insurance approval for my tummy tuck now and I anticipate losing another 20
pounds with the tummy tuck. If I can manage to get my thighs done, the
doctor thinks that will be another 15 or so. Gee, I have turned this into
a post about me and that wasn't my intention. I just wanted to stress that
we are all different and we lose at different rates and what might be a
realistic goal for one person, won't be for another. Don't beat yourself
up and don't stress about it. Enjoy the 80 pounds you've lost.

Thank you guys for reassuring me. I think my Doctor has nrealistic
expectations. He thinks I should lose most of my weight by 6 months

I am 6 months out and lost 75lbs. I FEEL like Im a 'slow loser' too....
BUT... Im going to the gym hardcore 3 times a week and lifting weights...
so I know the scale is messing with my head. Although the scale is an
important tool in your weight loss journey... look to other things too -
look at your body - take measurements - see how your clothes fit. :)

Your more than 1/2 way to your goal after only 4 months. And you will be
losing for at least another year. I don't see why you wouldn't get to your
goal, and I don't believe 80 pounds is slow at all. I think your PCP is
being unrealistic-what does your surgeon say?

Hey there, I am among the "snail losers" and you know what SO
WHAT lol...as long as we lose who cares. when i was at your stage i was
obsessed with how much i was losing and the time varience comparing my self
to others. dont do that to yourself, learn to accept you for you and you
are unique and going to lose at the comfortable pace your body feels it
should lose, but in the end you will be happy trust me it happend to me it
has happend to lots of others and it will happen for you! good luck and you
are doing awesome!!! ps...no offence but your dr sucks, he should be
encouraging you more.......tell him to get a grip!

At 4 months, I'd lost 61#. Took me 8 months to hit 100 lost. I lost 150
all together. Kept it off, and it was goal for me.
