Question:
What kind of Protein is best?
Is Soy or Whey protein best? Is there a tasteless protein you can add to everyday type foods or cook with? What kind of protein drink is good? I hear good things about Real Meals. How many grams of protein can a post-op absorb in one drink? Sorry, lots of questions....thanks in advance! — Tami H. (posted on December 28, 2002)

The best proetien is pre-digested, meaning it's been already broken down so
it's more easily absorbable. Michelle Curran (www.Vitalady.com) can
explain better. Soy proteins tend to be more granular than whey. The
general school of thought is that no more than 30 grams of protein can be
absorbed at one time, so anything more than that is believed to be wasted.
As for cooking, most proetins degrade in very hot temps, but added to
moderate (not boiled foods) may be OK. I know Designer Protein Natural
isn't bad for a flavorless protein, but there are others. My favorite
protein powders are ProScore 100, ProBlend 55 and ProV60...all good and
bioavailable for us.

hiya. the BEST kind of protein is the one that you can tolerate and will
use! my understanding is the max grams you can absorb is 30 (in one
sitting=1 hour)
i use Jarrow's Iso Rich Soy Protein powder because it is formulated to be
cooked with and frozen. you can add it to foods...i have recipes on my
website at: www.geocities.com/katebme2002
good luck!

I plan on trying some of vitalady's proteins since tshe has a vareity of
flavors. Real Meals is good too, but only limited to 2 flavors~ CHocolate
and vanilla. But check with Linda Almonte, a member on this website, she
can give you some recipes for "livening" up Real Meals. I just
printed a post where she had cut and pasted on another post here.
