You sound almost exactly like me. I reached goal in less than a year.
It's been an amazing journey. Check out my profile for all the details.
Best wishes to you! Merry Christmas!

I was 5'3" and 231. I am 2 1/2 years post op. Without any exercise I
got down to 170 and haven't varied from that weight by more than 3 lbs for
the past 2 years. I have no restrictions on what I am able to eat (no
dumping) I just eat less than before. I am probably not considered at a
perfect weight but I can wear 14 or 16 and that is good enough for me. I
am happy in my present body and bless the day I had this surgery. You can
do a lot more if you watch what you eat and exercise. I can't even remember
what the monthly loses were I just knew I had a long plateau at about 6
weeks. Good luck to you.

Hi, I am 5'3" and I weighed 235. I'm 8 months post-op and now weigh
140. I would still like to lose a few more pounds. I eat everything I
want but the good thing is that I want "good" foods and dislike
most of the "bad" foods. I exercise (20 to 30 min on a bike) 3
to 5 days a week (sometimes more) and feel terrific! WLS was the best
thing to happen to me. It saved my life in many ways.

Hi...I am 5'2", and on initial consult I was 222...went up to 226 one
week before surgery...and on date of surgery I was 214 (that dreated
"liver shrinking diet"). My surgery was 11/16/01...I got down to
140 by June, had a TT and gall bladder removal on 6/12/02...and am now down
to 119-123 (depending on the "time" of the month). I started at
a size 22/24 and am now a size 2/4. This has been an amazing journey. I
exercise daily...but not the kind of "formal" exercising that
everyone thinks of...I run after three kids, I work full time...I take the
stairs every chance I get, I park my car a block away from my office and
walk that block twice a day...at a very quick pace, carrying my briefcase
w/laptop in it. I do stretching exercises every night in preparation for
the spring/summer activities that I will definitely be partaking in this
year (recovery from the TT was tough and I had to keep it kind of on the
low-key side last summer)...I lost an average of 10-15 lbs a month...I
drank a minimum of 130 ozs water per day during my "losing
phase", and I believe that truly is what gave me my success. As a
"lightweight" I had been warned that I would probably not lose
more than 50-60 lbs, and in my stubborness I set out to prove that theory
wrong.
Read my profile and see my photos for the proof!!
Have a Sparkling Day!!

I started at5ft. 1 inch 253.5 pounds 7/16/02 and I am at 186 as of this
morning (-67.5 pounds)<<5 months post-op>> I exercise at Curves
3-4 times a week, walk my dog a 1/2 hour every day..eat mostly proteins,
staying away from too many carbs except veggies and fruit. So if you
average it out, I have lost about 12 pounds a month, however I am currently
on a two week plateau (nothing moving-ahhh!) but I know it is temporary.
Feel free to look at my web page. Only 33 more pounds and I will have a
-100 pic to post!

I'm 5 feet tall (I thought I was 5'2" until we remeasured me -- it is
amazing how quickly I shrank from my 20s) I'm 5 months post op, and have
lost about 55 pounds so far. I started out at 207. I'm thrilled.

5'3", started at 249. After 10 months, I am down to 160 and in size
12. Not at goal yet, but within 15. Go to the bottom of my profile to see
how much I lost each month. For exercise, before my disc started hurting
me, I was doing treadmill 3 X a week, some arm weights and doing yoga once
a week. i'd also like to suggest you try a belly dance class. Its the
most fun and intensive exercise, everything moving at once, and bodies of
all sizes.

18 months ago I was 5'2 and 301 pounds. I now weigh 156. Boy do I feel
good. I went from a size 30-32 to a size 14. I tried on a suit I bought
last year and the skirt fell off. It was a size 16. I've recently started
a new job which I have to walk to and from the train station quite far. I
do this at a very fast pace. Instead of taking the escalator, I do the
stairs. I'm not breathless!

At the time of my surgery, I was 245 lbs and 5'4". I am one week shy
of being 4 months post op. As of this morning, I have lost 66 lbs. (Only
49 lbs more to go until I reach my goal!!)
As far as exercising...
I work in a two story office building. The only way to get to the second
floor is to take the stairs (which is where my office is). So I go up and
downs the stairs alot during the day -- mostly because the only ladies
restroom is downstairs.
Otherwise, I am a busy wife and mom.
Keeping up with a husband and two children keeps me on my toes. Best
wishes on your journey -- Joy
