Question:
Liquids or not?
Do most people count their protein drinks towards their liquid intake? I am confused as to whether or not I have to wait 30 minutes after drinking liquid to have a skake or not, as well as whether or not I have to wait 30 minutes after. I did bring this up to the nutritionist, and I am still not clear! She felt it wasn't necessary to wait "that long" anymore, since the shakes probablyu leave the pouch very quickly. I would love to know what others are doing. I use Atkins shakes, and Real meals, both made with water, not milk (I drink that sepeately, shakes get too rich for me)Thanks — Linda 1. My nutritionist was very clear on this: the protein shakes don't count as
fluid when it comes to your 64 ounces, but are not solids when it comes to
the 30/30 rule. I am pre-op, but my nutritionist told our group meeting
this on Saturday. Each answer also was stated as part of our "required
reading".

My surgeon lets us count the shakes as part of the 64 ounces - in fact
anything we drink that does not have caffeine counts. I usually wait at
least 30 minutes after my shake before drinking because I want the full
feeling to last as long as possible.

Linda, I am a week post op. My surgeon lets me count the milk or water used
in the shakes as part of the 64 oz liquid. As the prev poster said anything
liquid that has no caffeine in it. I have to wait 30 minutes to eat after
drinking, and 30 min after eating to drink. Also I can count a Sugar Free
Popscicle as liquid.(not realy sure how much it equals) Good LUCK Nancy
