Question:
How do you approach hte subject of your WLS with people your are dating?
I am wondering for those of you post-op when you started dating someone whom didn't know you in your "fat" life, did you share with them the fact you had WLS and if so how did you approach the subject? Also have you ever stopped dating someone because of comment he or she made? — jmusser (posted on December 11, 2002)

I just told the person I'm dating that I had surgery on my stomach and due
to this my stomach is much smaller then most people's so I don't eat a lot.
He's never really questioned it much. I don't think men really do. He's
gotten used to taking home all my leftovers!!

I had surgery 3 months ago and I have lost 55 so far. I have been
wondering about this. I am divorced and do not date..yet. I think that I
will have to tell the man if I am serious. Also he is gonna see old pics
and know i was bigger. I live in a tiny town and word got out very fast.
But hardly anyone has asked me about it! I think that if I were with
someone and he made a mean comment about a heavy person I would have to
call him on it, and say hey. "You are a jerk". That is
somethging that I do not look forward to. And I am not sure about getting
back to school and having everyone look at me weird or make rude comments.
Do not know if it will happen, but I would not want it! Unless maybe I
write a book and get paid for people publicizing me!
