It's the ketosis...try some sugar free peppermints or the pocket strips
from Listerine. The running joke in my house is that I am going to be
thin, but my breath smells like a goat so no one will get close enough to
notice!! LOL...good luck to you!

Hello, I am 3 weeks post op and I know JUST what you mean about the film
and bad breath. EXPECIALLY in the morning (ughhhhhhh) I find I"m
brushing my teeth alot..and swooshing strong listerine around in my
mouth...It does the trick.....for a while. :)

Could it be thrush (i.e., yeast infection in the mouth)? Fairly common
postop from all the antibiotics.

I also had the coating /film on my tongue. I even tried a tongue scraper.
When I went to my surgeon to get my staples out he did not know what it was
and said to go to my family doctor. I went there and he took one look and
said I had thrush. I got this due to the antibiotics I was on in the
hospital. Some people get a vaginal yeast infection or you can get thrush
which is a yeast infection in your mouth. People who use inhalers can also
get this. He prescribed mycelex lozenges 5 per day for 10 days. It cleared
it right up. Looked 100 % better after the first day of treatment but you
have to do the whole 10 days to make sure it is gone. I did not notice the
bad breath but that does happen when you are in ketosis.

I had pretty raunchy halitosis a few years ago from a liquid fast (before I
had my surgery) and finally started to take Chloryphyll capsules I got from
the health food store...they seemed to help.

If the coating has a white or gray/black color, its likely thrush. Its a
yeast infection of the mouth. I got it after surgery. You need medication
from the doctor to make it go away. Good luck!

I had what I would call Morning Breath for about a month after my surgery.
I used Listerine Pocket Strips and they helped out alot. If you see a
white or grey film on your tongue, contact your doctor because then it
would be Thrush. Fortunately, I never had it.

I never had continual nausea, but oh yeah, the bad breath problem is
common! My mouth tasted awful for quite a while. The good news is it gets
better. I'm 11 weeks out now and I think my breath/mouth taste is pretty
much back to normal.

Congrats! Your in Ketosis! When the body burns fat it has to release
ketones in the breath and urine. In small amounts you don't notice it that
bad but when your REALLY burning the fat you notice them big time! I find
ice water helps alot, be sure to get in your protein! TIP* If ever your in
a slump and seem to be in a plateau you can get Keto-Diastix from the
pharmacy to check your urine for Ketones if your burning ketones you ARE
burning fat just sometimes we hang onto the water for a little while
