Question:
Food recommend 1 to 2 days prior to surgery
We we told to eat soft foods prior to surgery. Can anyone give me an example of what is recommended or worked well for them prior to surgery, so that Post Op is not a nightmare. — Michael S. (posted on December 7, 2002)

I believe soft foods would rule out harder to digest foods like steak and
roasts- nuts - popcorn etc. I had no problem. Two days prior to surgery I
went on soft foods and the day before surgery I used protein drinks and
liquids. Also - two days prior I took several magnesium pills throughout
the day to serve as a mild laxative. NO other bowel cleansing. Can't see
how you could go wrong doing something like this.

I was on a liquid diet 2 days prior to surgery. I drank alot of boullion
soups and ate lots of jello. I wasn't even hungry. I think it was nerves.
I also didn't have to do any bowel prep because the liquid diet acts like
a natural laxative. Good Luck! Lisa open rny 4/26/02 -111lbs
