Question:
I have been riding a stationary bike for a couple months....
Does anybody know how to use it properly? Should I ride for less time with more resistance or ride longer with less resistance? What areas does it tone up on your body? Thanks-Beth Ps- I had the bike for 3 yrs collecting dust and lost the manual LOL! — Elizabeth C. (posted on November 25, 2002)

what you want to do is to ride for a period of time to keep your heart rate
elevated. Say 20-30 minutes. If the resistance that you are on is not
giving you enough to keep your heart rate elevated for that period of time,
then you need to increase the resistance. This is good aerobic exercise!!
Keep it up!!

You should ride a minimum of 20 minutes, 30 is better. To know if your
heart rate is optimum you should be able to carry on a conversation and not
be totally out of breath, just a little out of breath.
