Question:
Allergic reaction to B 12?
I have recently bought B 12 (from walmart) its liquid and cherry, but the two times i have taken it the next day I'm swollen and my face and hands are like sunburn red. Could this be from the B12 or coincidence and from something else? — Laurie B. (posted on November 18, 2002)

My mom has this reaction when she takes Niacin, which may be in the product
that you are taking. Sounds like you may have the same product that I just
bought (same ingredients) however, mine is B-Complex Sublingual Liquid and
it does have the niacin in it. I agree with Diane... CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR
anytime you have a reaction to a medicine or supplement.

I have had reactions from B12 injections in the past. My doctor told me
that the B12 is not the cause but the chemicals it is mixed with. You
should check with your doctor and also look for a different brand of B12.
You may have better luck with a different one. The B12 injections my
surgeon gives me do not cause the same reaction I got from the B12 I
received from a different doctor. You may respond better to injections
instead of the sublingual. I prefer them. I get the shot once a month,
that is better than taking it daily.
