Rose, I am 6 weeks out and would not be able to eat that because I can't tolerate bread BUT eggs and bacon have a lot of good protein in them. It is not the worst choice you could have made and I don't think you should feel guilty. Personally I ate a snack size bag of M&M's last night. Talk about guilt. I'm going out to buy a treadmill today!

At 6 weeks out I was still struggling to get all my fluids to go down and half an egg was all I could eat . It does seem like a lot since I still can't eat that much and I am over a year out.You didn't say what time frame that was.I think I could eat that much if I took a very long time to eat it. If you eat this way every day with no problem I would worry but I have days where I think WOW,how did I eat all that and then the next day I'm lucky to eat a half of it and I'm full. Good Luck

Rose...yes, you ate a little too much. Every one of us has done that at least once. Just remember that uncomfortable or painful feeling the next time and you won't eat so much. I find that I am better off measuring what I am going eat beforehand and just eating that. Even at 4 months - which I will be next Sunday, I would have eaten an egg and maybe one piece of bacon and half of an English muffin. And I would have saved the English muffin for last and not eaten it if I was full...JR (open RNY 07/17 -108 lbs)

Wow-at 6 weeks that is alot for 1 meal. A whole english muffin? Do you know what size the doctor made your pouch? A six ounce pouch would fit alot more than a 1 or 2 oz pouch. Are you drinking with the meal? And are you spacing the meal over a long period of time? If you are, you can fit in a lot more. But seriously, you shouldn't. Your meals should take no longer than 15 minutes. Its not what you are eating that is of concern, its the amount.

At six weeks out I was still not listening to my body about when I was full. I don't know if you were like me or not, but I had spent soooo many years overriding that signal, it took me awhile to get in touch with it again. Now, I'm finished when I get that first full feeling. Don't beat yourself up! When I eat a cookie, I remember the times when I would eat 2 or 3 dozen or a whole bag of potato chips at one time. Just try to listen really hard to your body. Don't worry, it'll happen. AND, if you're doing this every day, you'll be OK. good luck!

Rose, I am 8 weeks out and I can almost eat a whole toasted cheese sandwich- bad carbs, i know. However, I can't even eat one chicken wing without getting sick. Everyone is different. Our pouches are different sizes, etc. As long as you don't overeat all of the time and make smart food choices you should be okay. Do you have a dietician to consult?

I am 11 months out and could eat the two peices of bacon and the egg, but not with an english muffin. That would make me throw up.

I am like one of the other posters, I think you are eating way too much this early out!! I am almost 9 months post-op and can't tolerate bread or bacon, the bacon because of the grease and fat content and the bread because it feels like it balls up and gets stuck, I can eat real crusty french bread once in a great while, but I would be full after the one egg, do you drink with your meals? that could be the problem!!!

At five months+ post-op, I haven't had an english muffin yet, but I'm sure I could if I wanted one. From about three months out or so, I could eat, in one sitting, a couple of egg beaters with a couple of slices of tofu cheese scrambled in, plus two or three slices of turkey bacon, and not feel overstuffed. I've had no problems so far with the surgery (knockin' on wood). From the various responses to your question, you can tell how different everybody is. And just because one person says, wow, I couldn't eat *that*, doesn't mean they couldn't come up with another meal that works for them where you'd say wow, I couldn't eat THAT! Just try to figure out what works for you, watch your daily totals of proteins, carbs & fats, drink that water, and EXERCISE as soon as you safely can. Viewing your question another way, I don't think any of us got or stayed obese by eating one english muffin with an egg and 2 slices of bacon as an entire meal. Just my 2c! :D

Hi Rose: Just my opinion, but I don't see any problem with this. Your weight loss is good, and eggs and bacon contain protein. It does not matter that I cannot tolerate bread, you can. As a person almost 12 weeks postop, my greatest difficulty has been getting in enough calories to lose weight. Food has not appeal, and it is a struggle to eat. The fact that you are able to eat will probably help your weight loss. I do find if I wait too long between meals, I am hungrier and able to eat a little more. Maybe this is what happened to you. If you have this combination once a week or so, I do not see a problem. If I were able to tolerate this, I would try it too. But bread was such a chore the one time I tried it, that I have not attempted to eat it again. Just my opinion. I hope this helps. Love Grace

The only thing is you need to eat SLOWLY!!! Small bites wait 30 seconds until the next bite and stop when you are full. Follow these ruls and there is no need for guilt. Good Lux

My doctor says I will never again be able to eat steak, brisket or roast and all three are my favorites. I was not aware that I could not have these three things in any quanity, has anyone else tried them without bad effects??
