Question:
I can NOT get my cycle regular 10 months post-op? Am I alone here?
I'm down 140 lbs & currently take birth control pills and still can not get my cycle regulated. My weight loss continues but very, very slow as I could probably only stand to loose another 20 lbs MAX. Any suggestions? Vitamins, diet, what? It's so frustrating. — Janice P. Are you on the pill just to regulate your period or actually for birth
control? If you are just wanting to know better when you'll get your
period, you might try using a basal thermometer. Remember that a side
effect of the pill is lowering of metabolism and will slow your weight loss
even further or stop it earlier. Your irregular period might be due to the
rapid weight loss from the surgery. A lot of times that makes it stop or
become much more irregular. Just some things to think about. I'm
attributing my lack of regularity to the weight loss personally. I'm about
6 weeks out and haven't had a period since the week before surgery and I
know I'm not pregnant.

I'd be very careful if you are using the pill as birth control post-op. I
know of at least two women who NEVER missed a pill and got pregnant
post-op. It's hard to tell how much of ANYTHING we absorb, much less our
bc pills!! That could also be the reason it is difficult to regulate your
cycle - if you aren't absorbing the pill properly, then you wouldn't
necessarily get your period on-time. I've heard that the bc patch works
well for post-ops as does the shot. Good luck.
