Terri be glad it is taken care of all at the same time. I had my surgery
april 12 2002 and ended up having my gallbladder out in september. Two
major surgeries in 5 months was hard on me. I wish you all the best. Sarah

Terri, you are so fortunate to have the gallstones NOW.
My surgeon would'nt take my healthy gallbladder out (during WLS) but it had
to come out 10 months later. You are fortunate to have both done in
"one surgery". Best of luck to you on your new journey!

I had my gallbladder removed and a hernia repaired at the time of my open
RNY - the enire process took 1 hour 15 minutes. That was from the first
cut with the scalpel to the last staple. Of course, the prep time made it
longer but that is how long the actual surgery took. I understand that
normal is about an hour and a half.

I was a bad statistic but don't believe my life was ever in danger. Took
45 minutes for my gallbladder to be removed and a few hours for the Lap
RNY. Had NO trouble with RNY but did develop a bile leak after the
gallbladder. Still would do it all over again and have both done. (Even
though I STILL hate the liquid diet....)
