I guess this depends on your surgeons instructions. At BTC you can't start
regular food for 6 weeks, so they'd be a definite no-no at this point.

Hello....I absolutely love liver ...any kind of liver. When I start
craving it I know that my iron is low. You might want to check and get
your iron tested. It certainly won't hurt to do that. I know it sounds
weird but EVERY single time I crave it I find that my iron is low, even
when I was pregnant that would happent to me.

Chicken livers are fairly easy to chew up into nothing. I would ask your
doctor first though. I really don't think one or two would really hurt you.

If your surgeon's post op protocol allows these foods at this stage, in my
opinion, they would be good choices. Both are good sources of protein and
liver is very nutrient dense. Many post ops can handle chicken very early
... my personal experience was different. It took me several months to be
able to tolerate chicken ... it didn't matter how well cooked, moist or
finely chopped ... I couldn't keep it down. Don't have a clue why, as I
could handle all other meats very early. At 4 weeks post op, eating was
still very much a trial and error process for me. I say if your surgeon
allows "real food" ... go for it. Just remember ... chew, chew,
chew! Good luck and God bless.

Might want to be careful with fried foods. I had just as much trouble
tolerating fried stuff as sugar. As a matter of fact the sickest I have
ever been was from chicken tenders that I thought I could pull the breading
off of. I would say even if you CAN eat 2-3 oz try eating maybe a few bites
the first couple of times. That way if it does bother you it won't be SOOO
bad. I know I was in the bathroom for like 30 minutes unable to get up and
then felt extremely rotten for another hour or so. Maybe you could try them
at home. I was in a restaurant with a friend and it was extremely
embarassing to disappear for a half hour.
