Question:
Does anyone know of a WLS friendly psychiatrist in the Youngstown, Ohio area? Please!

I am six months post-op RNY. I still have some "food demons" that I would like to take care of before it is too late. I was seeing a psychiatrist before my surgery that was totally against it. It really didn't help my situation. I can't go to my local support group meeting because I have a previous obligation on that day. So does anyone know of a WLS friendly psychiatrist in the Youngstown, Ohio area? I posted a question like this before & didn't get any answers. I would really appreciate anyone's suggestions! Our surgeon Dr Schauer meetings are now on line and viewable even after the meeting. I am going to suggest they have a address for e mail questions BEFORE the meeting. They take uestions real time duribng the meeting if its live. Theres a small support group that meets around grove city PA. I will try and find out when it meets. <P> Incidently your not alone, I fight the food cravings as well. You might call dr paul friday, who approves all of schauers patients. I don't live in Ohio, but wanted to make a few suggestions to you on how to handle this. First, is there any way you can get out of your previous obligation, even a few times, to go to your local support group? Talking to others who have been there is what you need more than anything right now. Second, look in your local phone book under psychologists (not psychiatrists) and call a few; you can even try a couple. Psychologists are better trained to deal with your emotional issues than are psychiatrists, who deal more these days in prescribing medication. I can't imagine a psychologist who would not be supportive, especially after you've had the surgery. I wish you well.

I live in Youngstown, Ohio. I had a psych eval done before my surgery, the doctor was very helpful and understanding. His name is Dr. Llewellyn and he's with North Eastern Ohio Behavioral Health.
