Question:
Can someone tell me
what is the weight requirement for a flight attendant. I have recently applied for a position with a major airline, I want to know how much do you have to weight before they hire you. I know they no longer have a age requirment, but I would think you can't be too heavy.. Any help will be greatly appreciated. — Rebe W. (posted on October 8, 2002)

Did a search on Yahoo for "flight attendant" & weight - got
the following hit at http://www.flightattendantcareer.com/faq.htm.

Here's the section on height & weight requirements:
What are the Height and Weight requirements for Flight
Attendants?
Many airlines have in place specific minimum and maximum height
requirements, each airline will vary on these requirements. Airlines have
become much more lenient on the height issue, most have lowered their
minimum height and increased maximum height. Many airlines are simply
requiring a reach height or the height to which an applicant is able to
reach in defined inches.

There are no specific weight requirements for Flight Attendant applicants.
Applicants are simply required to have "weight in proportion to
height." Which translated means, applicants can look like real people!
You do not have to be very thin or extremely good looking to be hired.
Airlines are simply looking for people with personality and a good customer
service work ethic.

I know first hand that they want your height in porportion to your weight.
They can't weigh you like in the past as a major airline got sued for doing
that in the 80's They like you to be at least 5'2" to reach the
compartments above.
It was my dream when I was obese and loving the job now that I am thin!
GOOD LUCK!
