Question:
How am I doing?
Hi in another week I will be 3 months post op..I started at 352lbs. at 5'8 1/2....I have lost a little over 60lbs...am I doing ok? I am down four pants sizes from a 30 to a 24. I have not put a sweet to my mouth, I have tried to do my best and am wondering if I am loosing at the same rate as someone else out there that started around the same weight & height as me. I try to get to the gym 3 - 4 times a week for at least an hour. Considering how lethargic I was before, this is a miracle. I am always worried about what I put into my mouth, but I realize that this isn't a diet, it's a lifestyle change--learning to eat NORMAL, not overeating. I worry that I am overeating, but I don't think so. I have only felt my pouch feel full once or twice..I try not to eat to that point....I do worry that I am not feeling full b/c my stomach is bigger than I think, but then again I think, if I don't know that, it's for the better. How big is my stomach at this point almost 3 months out...can I reasonably expect to hit 100lbs. by Christmas? Please help... — Trish R. (posted on October 7, 2002)

You sound like you are doing great. I am 8 weeks out and have lost 40lbs.
If I can keep up 20 a month for at least another month I will be greatful.
Ten a month is probobly more reasonable. Glad to hear you are at the gym I
just joined one Sunday.

You are probably doing just what your body wants to do that is right for
you. Can't predict about the 100 lbs but sounds like you are doing the
right things. It is normal to wonder about the stomach. I can tell you
that if you haven't overeaten more than a couple times, you are doing
better than the norm. Just 3 mon ago, I had surgery and the dr scoped my
stomach and said it had not stretched and was great 3 years later. I am
very active in support groups in my area and work closely with the surgeon
whose group I facilitate and yes, I have over eaten many times, more than I
should really admit to. Also, it normal to wonder how that stomach is
doing and is it stretching. It has taken this last year, that I now don't
worry. My weight has stayed stable for 2 years and so has my shape except
for actually getting a little slimer.
Hope this helps
