Question:
Switching insurance before my hernia repair and TT
I changed jobs about 3 months after my operation and it was all for the best, I'm not getting my new benefits for another 3 months, right now I'm still getting my old insurance (PacifiCare HMO) through Cobra. My question is I have an hernia and my Surgeon wants to wait another 6 months or so before the operation and combine it with a TT. By then I will have a new insurance (Health Net HMO with the same medical group) Is there a risk that my new insurance will deny the surgery because it's a pre-existing condition? — Diane B. Not if you continue paying your COBRA premium. The only way it can be
pre-x is if you have a lapse in coverage for more then 62 days and/or if
you haven't had a year of continous insurance coverage.
