Question:
Anyone who has had WLS in the last 5 years
Has anyone who had surgery in the last five years either not lost weight, or regained all of their weight? For the others, how much have you lost, and have you kept it off? Thanks. — Grace H. (posted on October 1, 2002)

I had Open RNY 10 months ago and have lost 150 pounds. I am still losing
and hopefully will lose about 40 or 50 more pounds.

Pre op 313 now 183 chart weight and holding. Talked to a fellow todays who
sister had RNY 7 years ago. Start weight for her over 300, now 140. He said
over 7 years she gained about 20 ounds back but is doing well. Except she
was a open and has several hernia surgeries the last with mesh that has
caused troubles. Our support group has lots of multi year members. Many end
up gaining 20 poundss over a few years. But they originally lost 100+ so
they are healthy and reasonably content.

Surgery 1/8/01. 5'2" starting weight 263. Reached goal of 139 in 9
months. Continued to lose for another 2-3 months. Got as low as 116. Now I
bounce between 118-120 Size 6. Have been holding this weight effortlessly
for a year. Shelley

I had laparoscopic D/S on July 6, 2001. I have lost 148 lbs and have gone
below my personal goal of 160 (the doc set the goal at 170). My problem is
keeping the weight ON! If I don't eat a lot, and I mean a LOT, I lose
weight. jw
