Question:
Hi, did anyone seem to slow down on their weight loss at about 7 months ?

Did anyone else out there seem to slow down on their weightloss at about 7 months, and will I still continue to lose. Also, how much are you eating at one time now. I try to eat about 3 ozs 3 times a day with a little snack in between, I am so confused about how much to eat at 8 months out, I have stayed about the same since 7 months post. Could someone please give me some good advice. Thank you!    — tatterpuddin (posted on September 24, 2002)

Yep, mine slowed down for months 7 to 9. I only lost about 8 pounds, if that. After my tt, my weightloss picked up again and I've lost 10 pounds since my surgery on 8/7/02. Granted, 5 pounds was skin, but the other 5 weren't.

hi there! i had open rny on feb 8 o2 and im now too noticing a significant slow in the weight loss. i try to keep my chin up realizing that this is normal and i will continue to lose. which i am, i lose anywhere from 1 to 3and a half pounds per week at this point which im greatful to still be losing! i let myself get freaked a bit though becuase i know if the loss were to stop today even though i have lost over 140 lbs i fear id still be in the danger zone of regaining. i try to stay focused and instead of getting bummed and heading for the fridge i just get busy doing a craft or exercise which helps. this next week im thinking about eating mostly shrimp as it is low in cals and carbs but very very high in protein. i think this will show a significant loss for next week atleast i hope. best of luck to you, me and anyone else going through the same thing. :)

I had a period of slow weight loss at 7 months. I upped my protein and tried to drink more water. I was eating way too many carbs. Also, you might try eating small meals every 3 hours or so. My dr says it keeps the metabolism steady. I did finally trickle the last pounds off and reach my goal. I have been steady at my current weight (not counting water fluctuation) for 7 months now. =)

Between 6 and 8 months post-op, I lost a grand total of 5 pounds. This was after losing 120 pounds the first 6 months and I was devastated. Well, I am almost 10 months out now and I have lost another 30 pounds. My surgeon told me when I slowed down that my body might be nearing it's goal. Well, I wasn't happy about that at all. I was still over 200 and not a bit pleased. However, I had been eating correctly and I didn't make any significant changes. Then all of a sudden the losing started again. As far as amounts are concerned, that varies from day to day. Some days it seems like I am eating all the time and others I have to force myself to eat. If I eat between meals I make a concious effort to make the snacks high protein and I am sure to get my water/Crystal Light in. Good luck to you.

You are at about 8 months post-op and experiencing a normal slow down at this stage. I'm about a week to a week in a half shy of 8 months and for the past two months I have lost 6 pounds and then 5 pounds. It seems that each month I lose 1 pound less! I think its to be expected. Interesting how for most post-ops it slows some in months 7 and 8 and then the weight loss does pick up again. Hang in there, your eating just fine..ensure you are doing well with your water, vitamins and exercise and it will pick up again soon
