I wouldn't worry about the weight gain. My surgeon did not let us weigh in
the hospital and the last thing he said before I was discharged was not to
weigh til my post-op visit to his office. I didn't have scales available
and so was able to resist the temptation. I weighed in at 12 days post-op
and had lost 30 pounds. I was floored - but I know a lot of it was from
fluid retention.
I didn't weigh again for 2 months when I went for my next post-op check-up.
He requests that his patients only weigh at the office or at support group
meetings. That way, we don't weigh more than once a month at the most.
And it works because you don't know when you hit a plateau and you don't
obsess over the numbers.
I am almost 10 months post-op and have lost 150 pounds. I lost the first
100 in 5 months and 1 week and it has taken almost that long to lose the
next 50. But, I did go two months where I lost only 5 pounds. Talk about
a plateau.
My advice to you is to try to follow your post-op eating and drinking plan
and stay away from scales. If you eat, drink and exercise right, the
weight will take care of itself.

5 days after I got home from the hospital, I weighed in and was shocked to
see I had gained 12 pounds! Thank god it was just fluids from the IVs. 2
weeks later, I had lost all that and another 15 or so...
