Question:
have to wear support for pannus after surgery?

I am so aware of my big abdomen now, I am wondering how people deal after when there is more skin hanging. do you wear a girdle or other support? are you self-conscious about it? thanks for the info.    — deespol (posted on September 21, 2002)

I am the same way, I don't have a very big hanging tummy, but it still looks ugly to me, I just wear tight jeans, and that does the job of holding it in pretty good, I am in the process of hopefully getting approved for a panniculectomy, so hopefully mine will be gone soon.

After losing 90# I have quite abit of baggy flesh in that area. I started wearing support panties (part spandex)-it helps some but not enough for my taste!! I know I will be able to wear a size smaller pants when I can get rid of it. Oh well, am saving my pennies for now.;)

I wondered about the same thing when I was initially doing my research on WLS - the RNY. I found several women who had a pannilectomy (sp?) done at the same time as their RNY. Of those ladies I spoke with all were very happy with their decision, no regrets, said they felt it really hadn't been anymore down time than if they'd not done it with their RNY, and also felt that it really helped them along the way with their weight loss. Just a thought for you. By the way that is what I'd planned to do, but since I'm self-pay and decided to wait on my RNY I went ahead and had it done pre-op. (had to) Best thing I ever did. I can exercise! (and breath! LOL) Best of luck!
