Question:
Pain Three Weeks Post Op, Please Help.
I'm 3 weeks post op and I have a strange pain. It's like a spasm that comes and goes. Maybe ot feels more like an intermitant digging. Its located on my left side, under my breast. ANYONE HAD THIS BEFORE??? SUGGESTIONS? — k r. (posted on September 12, 2002)

Hi. I had a simular pain but not till 4 months out. My doctor said it was a
pulled musle. But my pain was all over my stomach, not just on the left
side. I would recommend calling your doctor's office. In fact, don't ever
hesitate to call and ask questions. It's so important that you listen to
your body. It may be nothing like mine was, but better safe than sorry.
Good Luck.

The majority of work is done on the left side of the body during the
surgery.I am sure it is just part of the healing process but you should
call your doctor to be sure! Good Luck!

I've developed the same kind of pain (maybe more so) this past week, and
I'm 7 weeks out. I saw my doctor yesterday, and he agrees with the poster
who said it was a pulled muscle. He told me to take it easy lifting for a
couple of weeks, because they heal slower, now that we can't take
anti-inflammatories. And I agree with the poster who says never be afraid
to contact your doctor. I felt foolish going to mine, and he told me the
only fools are the ones who DON'T come in when they're concerned!

I had a similar problem at three weeks and was advised that it was my ribs
moving back into place. It lasted a week or two and then went away.

Kelly, I had the same pain 3 wks post op....I went to my dtr and he said it
was from the rib retractor. So, I agree with Mary. I took pain meds for 2
days and when I stopped, so did the pain and hasn't been back. Good
Luck...If it will relieve your conscience, call your dtr.
