Question:
Recently I have been waking up at all hours of the night (usually once a night) and
snacking on something. I may have some oatmeal or some greens. But how do I break this cycle of getting up to eat something just to go back to sleep????? — Michelle H. (posted on August 28, 2002)

When I was fairly new post op I'd wake up to eat. But I think you are
several months down the road. I don't know what to tell you, except if you
have to eat to try to make wise choices. Stay away from carbohydrates,
especially at night. Perhaps have something high in protein. Perhaps a
protein drink?

Try drinking some water, and dont go to bed hungry! Better to eat some
filling low cal food before bedtime. For awhile I ate carrots to accomplish
this. Also helped my need to chew. Over time the night munchies went away..
