Question:
I know that plateaus happen, but I am worried....
I am 4 months post op from a LAP RNY. I have lost just about 60 lbs at this point however, I have not lost anything in the last month?? I am very frustrated with this and have tried everything. I eat a scrambled egg with cheese for breakfast, a scoop of tuna on 4 saltines for lunch ( ieat the rest with a fork) and have a sensible dinner. I tried to mix things up eat less one week(it did nothing) I tried eating more (nothing) I drink about 60 oz of water a day. What do I do????? Any suggestions would be great. THANKS... — Kristy -. I know just how you feel! I have only lost about 8 pounds a month for two
months! I expected great things from this surgery and I am so
disappointed. It sounds like you and I eat and drink the same. Nothing
happens. I just posted a similar question today. The reason I had the
surgery was because in the past all I ever lost was 5 pounds a month no
matter what I did. Still the same. Email me direct and we'll talk. I
live in the atlanta, GA area.

I am 10 weeks post- and spent 4 of them losing and gaining the same 3
pounds. Finally, I upped my water to 80 oz and started protein shakes. I
am gettine about 120 grams a day. Since I started this a week ago last
Thursday, I have lost 17 pounds. Give it a try, maybe just playing around
with your protein and water will work. Good Luck~

I had lap RNY 3 months ago. I have lost a total of 70 pounds, but about 2
weeks ago I hit a plateau. I was concerned but I just kept doing what I've
been doing. Low and behold, the weight loss kicked in again last weekend
and I lost 10 pounds in 3 days doing nothing differant. I guess your body
just needs to do things in its own time. Don't get discouraged, you are
doing great! ((Hugs))

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to how the body loses the
weight sometimes. I was weighing myself every day and it was driving me
crazy- I would be 2 pounds up and then the next day 4 pounds down. I now
think that since this is a life change, we WILL lose the weight but it will
require us to be resigned that it will happen in it's own time, not ours.
I used to take my watch and socks off (even my wedding ring!) before I got
on the scale to have a better number on the scale. Now I realize that I'll
lose the weight but it may take an extra week or so to see a different
number. If you read a lot of these profiles, you'll see that everyone hits
plateaus. Try not to get frustrated. Congrats on your success! - Mike

I am five months post op and have lost 110 lbs so far out of my 160 I want
to loose. I have been pretty lucky and not hit too many plateaus, tho I am
on one now for a week. The last one I hit I broke it BIG time and lost 10
lbs in a week. What did I do? Well I was sick and virtually stopped
eating (I do not recommend this but it worked) and then when I felt better
I was like woohoo 3 meals a day! Well that is when it broke. I know this
is unconventional but it has worked twice for me. A day or two of liquid
diet, no card protein shakes, water, etc.. and then back to three meals a
day and it seems to break. What you have to remember is that little things
will cause you trouble. Drinking things with calories is a big one. My doc
says that people can drink themselves fat!! Also, those little carbs here
and there, ugh those will hurt you too, no matter how little. Try cutting
out ALL carbs for a week or so, I know it is hard but what can ya do :( I
wish you luck, but remember this...YOU HAVE LOST 60LBS!!!
