Question:
Is this weird for 9 weeks post op.?
I had a lap r-n-y 9 weeks ago. In the first month I lost 29 pounds, then proceeded to gain back 8 pounds. I have finally started going down again in the last 2 weeks and but I am now only down 33 pounds from my starting weight. I am exercising, getting my protein, drinking at least 32 oz. of water a day (I know I need more water) This does not seem like enough weight loss for 9 weeks. Is this normal or am I doing something wrong? — Joni D. (posted on July 30, 2002)

I think it's normal. I've only lost 64 pounds after 5 1/2 months and
started at 350. I have a lot of trouble with swelling/edema so my weight
goes up and down just like yours. Good Luck!

i think if you can get yourself to get more fluids, you will find yourself
losing more weight. I am 9 weeks post-op as well and have lost 45 pounds. I
drink atleast 80 ounces of water everyday. You need atleast 64 a day. I
know it is hard, i'm not lecturing you, but with only 32oz. a day, you are
probably dehydrated. I don't think 33 pounds is bad at all, but i can
almost guarantee if you up your water, your weight will drop more, for some
reason the pounds come off better! One day i drank 120oz and i lost 2
pounds the next day! :-) Goodluck

Remember, Crystal Light can count as water. Also, for every cup of caffeine
that you drink, you have to drink an equal amount or water, not counting
that as your water intake. Caffeine is dehydrating. Good luck to you.

I'm having a problem losing as well. I am 6 weeks post op, lap rny.
During the first 4 weeks, I lost 28 lbs. For the past 2 weeks, I have been
at the same weight...no loss at all. I've gotten myself all upset about
it..thinking I've failed at yet another attempt to shed the pounds. I
sure hope that this is a plateau and that it ends quickly. By the
way....my starting weight was 309.
